Do You Know What's The #1 Success Secret Is? How many people do you hear complaining about their job, where they live, how little money they have, or how they can never take a vacation? How many times have you heard those same people, when they hear about someone else who made a lot of money from an idea, say, “I could have done that!” But yet, they didn’t. And they continue to complain about where they are in life. A friend of mine owns a dog grooming business, and she buys supplies from another pet business in town. One day, as she talked to the owner, she found out that the owner’s husband made liver treats for dogs—he bought liver at wholesale, cut it into thin strips, dried it, packaged it, and retailed it to pet businesses. Eventually he got a contract with a distribution company and was doing very well with what started out as a simple side business. My friend was upset when she was talking to me. She explained that she had had that idea several months earlier, but didn’t follow through because she didn’t think it would fit into her business. “I could have done that!” she said, with some resentment in her voice. You know what? She was right. She could have “done” that. She had the idea. But she didn’t follow through. Do you see yet what the number one success secret is? You must take action! You must put your ideas into play. You will not be successful if you don’t take action. You can have as many ideas as you want, read as many books as you want, listen to motivational tapes, and watch inspirational speakers, but if you do not act on what you learn, you will not be successful. It really is that simple. If you have a great idea but stand still with it, nothing will happen. You have to walk or better yet, run -- with your idea to make it happen. After all, who was successful with the dog snack idea? Was it my friend, who quite possibly had the idea first, or was it her friend’s husband, who actually followed through with the idea? The person who takes action will be successful. I know that it can be difficult to take action, especially if you are used to not doing so. It can be very hard to break out of the bad habit of inaction. But you have to do it. Sorry, you have no choice. But one thing to bare in mind—Taking action by following the right system will definitely give you the extra advantage. Destiny. What a powerful word. And the great thing about it? Everyone has one! You have a destiny! Another great thing about destiny? We have a significant role in shaping our own destiny! In essence, you can choose your date with destiny - powerful! Your destiny is the dream that lies within you of your desired and preferred future. And the things that we choose each day are what lead us to that destiny: Our actions, our words, our attitudes, and our relationships. They all add up to develop and shape that date on which we will reach our destiny. Here are some thoughts to think about as you work on shaping your Date with Destiny: The Mental Question: Do you believe that you can achieve a life of abundance? The frank truth is that many people simply do not believe that they can achieve what lies in their heart. Success is for someone else, a better person, or a smarter person. This is not true and is perhaps the greatest obstacle we face on the journey to our destiny. If we are to achieve the abundance in life we must first believe we can, or face our own continual self-sabotage of what a college professor of mine called "stinkin'-thinkin.'" Here is the truth: It doesn't matter what your intelligence is. It doesn't matter what your current resources are. It doesn't matter what you currently earn. It doesn't matter what family you came from. Nothing in your current circumstances matter in whether or not you can achieve your destiny! Nothing! Now, your current state may make it a longer or harder journey than someone else, but the possibility is always there no matter what your current circumstances are. And that is the message we need to continually tell ourselves. "I can do it." Not "I can't do it." Clear vision. Do you have one of your destiny? Here are some questions to determine whether or not your vision is clear. Can you describe it in intricate detail? Can you "see" it? Can you "feel" it? Can you "hear" it? Here are a couple of illustrations. Perhaps you came from a dysfunctional family and your dream is to have great moments with your family. Let's start with a Thanksgiving meal. Can you see each person there? What are they wearing? Are they smiling? What is the conversation? Can you hear the laughter? Can you experience the joy? Can you smell the turkey? Can you see people hugging each other and saying "This was wonderful," as they leave? Another scenario: Your company. Can you see the large building you are in? Can you see the workers? Can you feel the positive attitude they have as they carry out their work? Can you experience the excitement as you get the quarterly results? Can you see yourself handing out healthy bonuses that bring pleasant surprises to your employees? This is where it begins. A clear vision of your destiny. Consider your resources. Are you aware of the resources you will need in order to set your date with destiny? Do you know how you will go about getting them? What are your natural gifts and talents that you have? How can you best utilize them in achieving your destiny? What are your current level of resources? Money? Time? Emotional health? Help from others such as friends, family, employees or volunteers? What will be your needed future level of resources? And have you developed a plan to achieve this level? The last thing I would encourage you to do is fix a date in the future that you believe you could believe you will be living your destiny by. A real date. What this enables you to do is then begin to work backwards in setting goals to move you along the way, proving you with future points to strive for and evaluation point to reflect upon. Here are the points again: Answer the mental question: Do I really believe? Develop a clear vision. Consider the resources needed. Set a date with destiny. Develop a plan to get there. The Self Mastery Secrets '7-Day Success Workshop' Day 5: How To Ignite The Success Forces Within You Dear Lukman, Mediocre people choose lives of mediocrity. It's not that they aren't smart enough..or lucky enough...or attractive enough. People who live lives of excellence, on the other hand, make excellent choices (I'm not saying they don't experience setbacks - I'm saying they approach their day differently). Imagine with me for a moment: what if there was a way to Ignite the Success Forces within you? Would you practice it? If we knew something about the difference between those who live in mediocrity and those who live, move and breathe in excellence, do you think that could help us to have more success in our lives? You bet it could. So, then: How Do We Ignite the Success Forces Within Us? The answer may seem somewhat hidden, but I assure you: it is not hidden to men and women of success and achievement. If you want to have real success in your life, then you absolutely MUST move from moment to moment with a SENSE OF URGENCY. Have you ever seen a boxer accidently bump heads with his opponent and get a cut over his eye? I have. And let me tell you: once he gets that cut under his eye, he starts moving with a sense of urgency...big time. Why? Because he knows the referee can now stop the fight at any moment. You need to start attacking each hour and minute of the day with the same sense of urgency. If you never made time for your personal vision, or never followed through on your goals to get in shape and lose weight, and I came along one day and put a gun to your head and said I'll pull the trigger if you didn't get your things accomplished in the next 4 hours, do you think that would motivate you and make a difference? Some of you may say no it wouldn't...but I'm guessing most people would agree that they'd move with a greater sense of urgency. It is this type of self-motivation that will move you further and faster than you ever did before in your life. Approach your day in this way and in no time you'll begin to see a new person staring back at you in the mirror. Living in a state of urgency tells the mind that you are going to be relentless until you meet with success. Urgency provides immediate focus to the tasks that must be done. Before you know it, momentum builds and carries you towards achievement. Waking up at 5:00 am each morning to some would be unimaginable; to me it is my way of preparing to be an effective mom, mentor and business owner. With urgency, you perform at a higher level of accomplishment. It becomes unacceptable for you not to. Urgency creates a reality that anything is possible or attainable and this is where your creative imagination will uncover a way to make it happen. Approach your day, your business and yourself as though your life depended on it. Because it does! Only you can decide what you would be willing to do. Decide today and then act on it with urgency. Success will follow. Enjoy the day, Keith Matthew www.selfmasterysecrets.com
Action I will act now. I will act now. I will act now. Henceforth, I will repeat these words each hour, each day, everyday, until the words become as much a habit as my breathing, and the action which follows becomes as instinctive as the blinking of my eyelids. With these words I can condition my mind to perform every action necessary for my success. I will act now. I will repeat these words again and again and again. I will walk where failures fear to walk. I will work when failures seek rest. I will act now for now is all I have. Tomorrow is the day reserved for the labor of the lazy. I am not lazy. Tomorrow is the day when the failure will succeed. I am not a failure. I will act now. Success will not wait. If I delay, success will become wed to another and lost to me forever. This is the time. This is the place. I am the person.
Adversity There is no better than adversity. Every defeat, every heartbreak, every loss, contains its own seed, its own lesson on how to improve your performance the next time.
Concentration The weakest living creature, by concentrating his powers on a single object, can accomplish good results while the strongest, by dispersing his effort over many chores, may fail to accomplish anything. Drops of water, by continually falling, hone their passage through the hardest of rocks but the hasty torrent rushes over it with hideous uproar and leaves no trace behind.
Control Never allow anyone to rain on your parade and thus cast a pall of gloom and defeat on the entire day. Remember that no talent, no self-denial, no brains, no character, are required to set up in the fault-finding business. Nothing external can have any power over you unless you permit it. Your time is too precious to be sacrificed in wasted days combating the menial forces of hate, jealously, and envy. Guard your fragile life carefully. Only God can shape a flower, but any foolish child can pull it to pieces.
Enthusiasm Every memorable act in the history of the world is a triumph of enthusiasm. Nothing great was ever achieved without it because it gives any challenge or any occupation, no mater how frightening or difficult, a new meaning. Without enthusiasm you are doomed to a life of mediocrity but with it you can accomplish miracles.
Excellence Always do your best. What you plant now, you will harvest later.
Happiness Realize that true happiness lies within you. Waste no time and effort searching for peace and contentment and joy in the world outside. Remember that there is no happiness in having or in getting, but only in giving. Reach out. Share. Smile. Hug. Happiness is a perfume you cannot pour on others without getting a few drops on yourself.
Love Treasure the love you receive above all. It will survive long after your gold and good health have vanished.
Obstacles Obstacles are necessary for success because in selling, as in all careers of importance, victory comes only after many struggles and countless defeats. Yet each struggle, each defeat, sharpens your skills and strengths, your courage and your endurance, your ability and your confidence and thus each obstacle is a comrade-in-arms forcing you to become better… or quit. Each rebuff is an opportunity to move forward; turn away from them, avoid them, and you throw away your future.
Progress Never again clutter your days or nights with so many menial and unimportant things that you have no time to accept a real challenge when it comes along. This applies to play as well as work. A day merely survived is no cause for celebration. You are not here to fritter away your precious hours when you have the ability to accomplish so much by making a slight change in your routine. No more busy work. No more hiding from success. Leave time, leave space, to grow. Now. Now! Not tomorrow!
Success The only certain means of is to render more and better service than is expected of you, no matter what your task may be.
Herewith, the “top eight” personal traits that I see in my most successful clients. Why 8, and are they really the “top?” The list could certainly be much longer, but space restrictions forbid it. What makes them “top” is really just a guess on my part. Are they a good guess? You be the judge. 1. They take risks. Never have I seen significant success that was not gained through carefully-considered risk. Why are people reluctant to take risks? They’re afraid of making mistakes. The successful clients I know chalk up mistakes as learning events and move on. 2. They have integrity. They always strive to do what they promise, even in the smallest things. They are scrupulously fair in all their dealings with others. 3. They love their work. Their sense of purpose is one of their most attractive characteristics. It’s clear that they’re having a great time doing what they do. 4. They set goals. The disciplined decisiveness displayed in this process is amazing. It’s what drives the organization and is especially effective when the process includes people from all levels of the organization. 5. They are positive and confident. The doubts they express have more to do with tactical matters, not about their purpose, strategy or goals. Although confident, they don’t take achievement for granted, they celebrate it and spread the credit where it was earned. 6. They persist. Ray Kroc, the founder of the McDonald’s chain, knew a winner when he saw it. But the professional analysts at eight different financial institutions turned him down. He kept improving his first restaurant’s operations until he finally found the funding he needed to launch the chain. 7. They are high energy and care about their health and life balance. When I discuss their schedules with them, I see that they block out periods during the week for “down time.” Call it decompression, rejuvenation or stress-reduction, it all serves the same purpose; it helps them gain balance in their lives. They all claim that the result is the ability to get more done in less time than they could if they did not take the down time. 8. They communicate openly and directly. They don’t assume that the burden of problem-solving is theirs alone. They get input from many sources before making a decision.
Everything man creates or acquires, begins in the form of DESIRE, desire is taken on the first lap of its journey, from the abstract to the concrete, into the workshop of the IMAGINATION, where PLANS for its transition are created and organized."
